Afternoon....
"Are you feeling any better?" Carmen asks.
"A little," replies Elena, her hand on her growing stomach. "I'm so tired of this morning sickness."
Carmen takes a seat on the sofa. "When I was carrying you, I had the morning sickness almost until the day you were born."
Carmen takes a seat on the other sofa across from her. "Ellie, you have not been sleeping well."
"No, I haven't. I can't remember when I last had a full night's sleep, or a restful night's sleep."
"I hear you tossing and turning at night," Carmen says.
"I can't close my eyes without seeing....." Elena stops he sentence as she chokes back tears.
"Without seeing Christopher," Carmen says.
"Yes. And the explosion. I feel this is all my fault. That's why I needed to get out of Dallas."
"How could what happened to Christopher have been your fault?"
Elena stands and walks across the room. "If it hadn't been for me. If I hadn't brought Nicolas into our lives, into the Ewings' lives.....Christopher would still be alive and so would...." She again stops her conversation, realizing she was about to say that her brother Drew would also still be alive if she hadn't brought Nicolas ba back into their lives.
Carmen looks at her daughter, puzzled. "What were you about to say?"
"Nothing, Mama," Elena answers.
"Mama, it's nothing. I was just thinking about Christopher. And Drew. How much I miss them both."
"Yes," Carmen says, standing. "I cannot believe what has happened to Joaquin. How he has changed. What happened to that innocent young boy we brought into our home so many years ago?"
"The life he chose to follow, is what happened, Mama," says Elena. "I think I'm gonna shower and go out for a while. I can't stand sitting around this apartment all day."
"I will come with you."
"No, Mama, you don't have to."
"Then why don't you phone your cousin Ana?" Carmen asks. "She has been wanting to see you ever since you have been back in Mejico."
"Another time," says Elena. "Today, I just wanna be alone."
Later....
Dallas.....Kimberly Cryder's home
"Why, Miss Jillian, it's so nice to see you," the maid says.
"Hello, Maggie, is my mother at home?" Jillian asks, walking into the house.
"She is. She's out back in the garden, it's such a lovely day."
"Jill," says Kimberly Cryder, standing in the doorway of the foyer. Kimberly walks over to her daughter.
"Hello, Mother."
"Miss Jillian, can I get you anything?" Maggie asks.
"No, thank you, Maggie," replies Jillian. The maid smiles, then leaves the room.
"No, Mom. I'm not. I was up all night. Crying."
"Oh, sweetheart. I'm so sorry this happened. But don't you worry. Somehow we WILL get Westar back."
"I'm not here about Westar," Jillian says.
"Then what is it?"
Jillian reaches into her pocket and pulls out a crumpled envelope. "I'm here about this."
"What's that?" Kimberly asks.
"Here, Mom," Jillian replies, holding out the letter. "Read it."
Kimberly looks at her daughter with a puzzled expression. Then, reluctantly she takes the letter and begins to read. Kimberly's face grows pale with shock and her mouth drops open.
Kimberly closes her eyes for a moment. "Jillian...."
"Just tell me. Is it true?!"
"Yes. I prayed you'd never find out. That no one would ever find out. But yes. J.R. Ewing was indeed, your father. Wilson and I, well, let's just say our marriage wasn't exactly a happy or intimate one. J.R. had just lost his beloved Ewing Oil, and he wanted control of Westar. He had promised to divorce is wife, Sue Ellen and marry me in exchange for being named CEO of the company in Wilson's place. But Sue Ellen refused to give him a divorce without a very bitter and very ugly custody battle over John Ross. So, since J.R. couldn't get Westar by marrying me, he decided to take it by force. Much in the same way John Ross has done. Like father, like son. J.R. launched a hostile takeover."
"So, what happened?" Jillian asks. "Why didn't J.R. get control of the company back then?"
"His takeover so upset my father that it caused him to collapse. He died. I never forgave J.R. for that. So, Sue Ellen and I teamed up against him to make sure he didn't get control of the company. By that time I already knew I was pregnant, but I never told J.R. Not even after you were born."
Jillian slowly walks into the living room and sits down on a chair. Kimberly follows. "Dear God. John Ross is my brother?"
"How did you find out about this?"
"John Ross gave that letter, and those documents to me last night."
"Where did he get this?" Kimberly asks.
"Does it matter?" Jillian asks, standing. "You lied to me. My whole life you have lied to me."
"I didn't want you to be hurt. Jillian, you never knew J.R. Ewing. You don't know what that man was like. As bad as Wilson Cryder was, J.R. Ewing was a hell of a lot worse. I only kept this from you to protect you."
Jillian starts to cry. "And maybe protect yourself, too? Why didn't you tell me this when I brought John Ross into Westar? If I had known the truth then, I might have been able to stop him from orchestrating this takeover." Jillian walks past her mother and into the foyer, to the front door.
"Jillian, where are you going?"
Jillian stops and turns back to her mother. "I honestly don't know. I need to think, and to figure out what I'm gonna do to get my company back from my new half-brother," she says sarcastically. Without another word to her mother, she leaves.
"Damn you, J.R.," Kimberly says quietly after her daughter is gone. "You're in your grave, but you found a way to wreck my life again after all these years."
That night....
"It's nothing. Just......at least I hope not," Elena says.
"What is it?"
"When I was out earlier, someone called me on my cell. But when I answered, they didn't say anything. I knew someone was there, I could hear them breathing."
A worried look crosses Carmen's face. "I do not like the sound of that."
"Mama, I'm sure it was just a wrong number," Elena says in an effort to ease her mother's fears. She herself, however, is not so sure.
"You know, next Saturday is your cousin Josefina's birthday. I will be helping your Aunt Maria plan the birthday party."
Elena sighs. "That's good, Mama."
Carmen is silent for a moment. "I was hoping that getting out of here for a while today would make you feel better, but you seem even more depressed than before you went out. It is that phone, call, isn't it?"
"You think it may have been Nicolas?" Carmen asks.
Elena looks worriedly at her mother for a moment. She remains silent, but her mother's words, and the reminder that Nicolas is still out there at large somewhere sends chills down Elena's spine.
Meanwhile....outside Elena's apartment building...
"Christopher Ewing?" The man says. Christopher starts to turn around, but feels something that seems to be the barrel of a gun in his back. "Don't move," the man says. "You're coming with us. Don't move and don't make a sound."
Having no choice but to do as he's told, Christopher is escorted away by three men in dark clothing. They force him into a car parked in front of the building, and the car takes off down the street.
Dallas....the next morning
"Thanks," John Ross says.
"I suppose I should type up my resignation," says Melissa. "I'll have it to you by noon."
"What are you talkin' about?" John Ross asks.
"I'd rather just resign before you let me go. I'm sure you'll wanna hire your own secretary."
Melissa looks at him for a moment. "I'm not sure I can. Miss Cryder hired me. She was very good to me. I don't like or condone the way you stole this company right out from under her. Stole her job. So I'm just not sure I can work for you."
"I can respect that," says John Ross. "I wish you'd change your mind and stay on, but I can understand if you don't want to."
"Thank you," Melissa says. As she starts to leave the office, she and John Ross are both surprised when Jillian walks in. "Miss Cryder," Melissa says, happy to see her former boss.
"Hello, Melissa. How are you?" Jillian asks.
"I'm fine. How are you?"
"I'm okay. I'd like to speak to Mr. Ewing."
Melissa looks at John Ross, then back at Jillian. Without saying a word, she nods, then leaves.
After Melissa is gone, Jillian walks over to John Ross. "I read what was in that envelope."
"Then you know the truth."
That J.R. was my father? That you're my brother? I didn't believe it at first. So yesterday, I went to see my mother, and she confirmed it."
John Ross sighs. "Good. I'm glad it's finally out."
"You bastard," Jillian says, choking back tears. "You steal my company and then you drop this bombshell on me. Why? Why didn't you just stay the hell out of my life?"
"When I found out that J.R. had fathered a daughter, I immediately set out to find her. Didn't take long."
"That's not how it was," John Ross says. "I meant what I said the other day. I would like for you and me to run Westar together."
"You have GOT to be kidding me. This company was started seventy years ago by my grandfather. My Grandfather Stiles. A Ewing has no place in Westar."
"Our father was CEO of this company at one time, and as I recall he did a hell of a job. Jill, you and I could do great things here. Westar is already the biggest and most powerful inependent oil comp'ny in Dallas. We could make it the biggest in the state. Hell, even in the whole southwest. Just join me and we can do this."
Jillian looks at him for a moment, then walks to the door. She pauses, then turns back to him. "I know that J.R. Ewing was something of a legend around Dallas. I'd also heard he was a ruthless snake who took whatever he wanted and just ran over anyone who got in his way. That sounds exactly like the man I'm looking at right now. That makes me ashamed to know that I'm in any way related to either of you." She again turns to leave.
"You know what?" John Ross asks, causing Jill to again stop. "Your mama made you CEO of Westar. Turned the reigns of power over to you. Girl, did you honestly think you were ever gonna get anywhere runnin' a big oil comp'ny like Westar by playin' nice? By not occasionally goin' out and takin' what you wanted? Well if you thought that then you're a fool. Because in this game, little sister, you gotta be willin' to do almost anything it takes."
"That's something I heard all my life from Wilson Cryder," Jillian says. "I didn't believe it from him and I sure don't believe it from you, BIG BROTHER. While it's true that sometimes you have to play a little rough and even dirty with the competition, you DON'T have to lose your integrity and ruthlessly destroy people in order to get ahead."
John Ross smiles slightly. "Hmm, maybe you're my Uncle Bobby's daughter. 'Cause you're soundin' a helluva lot more like him than J.R."
"If that's true, then your Uncle Bobby sounds like a way better man than you or J.R.," Jillian says. Without another word, she storms out of the office. John Ross smiles.
Meanwhile....in Mexico City...
"Mr. Ewing," he says. "Sorry all this has inconvenienced you."
"You haven't been kidnapped. Just.....detained."
"Same thing!" Christopher says, standing to face the man.
"Look, Mr. Ewing, you not only put yourself in more danger by pulling this little stunt, but you also could've endangered the life of Miss Ramos."
"I would never let anything happen to Elena. Never!"
"We've had our men watching Miss Ramos for the past several weeks, Mr. Ewing. She hasn't been out of our sight. Her mother is also with her now."
"You don't," the man replies. "At least not right away."
"You can't keep me here against my will. I'm NOT a criminal. I haven't done anything for you to arrest me."
"Mr. Ewing, you're not under arrest. You're in protective custody."
"It's for your own good," says George Tatangelo as he walks into the room. He faces Christopher. "That was a damned foolish thing you did."
"Yeah? Well what the hell was I supposed to do, George? You kept me a prisoner in that damned hotel room and wouldn't even let me see Elena. I had to know she was alright."
"And by coming here, you put everything in jeopardy," George says. "If any of Trevino's men were watching Elena's place, they saw you."
"Then use me as bait to draw Nicolas out. If he knows I wasn't in that car and that I'm still alive, then he's likely to make another move, right? Especially if he thinks I'm trying to get to Elena."
George looks at him for a moment, then rubs his eyes. "This would be really dangerous."
"I'm willing to risk it," says Christopher. "I want my life back. My family thinks I'm dead. I wanna get back to them and put this whole thing behind me as soon as possible, and if that means risking my life to draw Nicolas out into the open, then I'll do it."
"It could work, boss," one of the other men says to George.
"Okay, fine. We'll come up with a plan."
"One other thing," says Christopher.
"What's that?" George asks, nervous about what the answer would be.
"My father."
"What about him?"
"I want my father to know that I'm alive."
"Impossible," George says.
"Tatangelo, this is non-negotiable," Christopher says. "For weeks and weeks, my father has been grieving my death. I want him to know I'm alive and that I'll be coming home soon."
George and the other man exchange looks, then George turns back to Christopher. "Don't you think that seems rather cruel? If we let your father know you're still alive, and something goes wrong with this plan, do you really want him to have to go through losing you a second time?"
Christopher is silent as he thinks about what George said.
"You know I'm right about this. God forbid, if anything does go wrong, it's better that your father just go on thinking you're dead for now. If we succeed and Trevino is safely behind bars, there'll be plenty of time for you to have a family reunion."
Christopher turns away, then nods in agreement.
Elsewhere in Mexico City....later
"Jefe? Hernando esta aqui ("Boss, Hernando is here"), says the heavyset man in Spanish.
The man at the window turns around.....the man is none other than Nicolas Trevino!
"I have news," Hernando says.
"Elena, is she alright?"
"She is fine. What I have to say will come as a shock."
"Just tell me," Nicolas says impatiently.
"Christopher Ewing is alive. He arrived at Elena Ramos's apartment building late last night. However, the CIA grabbed him and took him away."
Nicolas looks at Hernando in shock for a moment. "What? No. That is not possible. His car was blown to smithereens. No one could have survived that."
"He was not in the car. The entire thing was an elaborate set up to make us believe Ewing was dead."
The anger begins to rise inside of Nicolas. "His.....Ewing's death was faked?"
"Yes," Hernando replies.
Nicolas walks over to him. He looks Hernando in the eye, then grabs him by the shirt collar. "How is that possible? I entrusted this to you and to your men to make sure Christopher Ewing was inside that car when it was blown up. How did this.....mistake.....happen?"
"Enrique, the man who was to blow up the car, was working undercover for the CIA. Boss, I had no idea. I am sorry."
"You are sorry?" Nicolas asks, angrily, his face only a couple of inches from Hernando's frightened face. Suddenly, Nicolas shoves Hernando to the floor. "You do not know what sorry is. But you will, I can guarantee that. Now, where is this......Enrique?"
"I do not know, Boss," Hernando replies, tears of fear streaming down his face. "He has disappeared."
"Disappeared?" Nicolas says with gritted teeth. Without warning, he violently knocks over a table, which falls close to Hernando. Then he looks at Mateo, the heavy-set man. "I want this Enrique found, and I want him found now. In the meantime, take this one to the warehouse and detain him there. Let him have a few hours to think about what his mistake has cost me, and he can prepare to meet his maker."
"Yes, Boss," Mateo says. He grabs Hernando by the arm and forces him to his feet.
"Boss, please, do not do this," Hernando begs. "I am sorry I have failed you."
"Not as sorry as you soon will be. Get him out of my sight."
"Come on," Mateo says, dragging Hernando by the arm from the room.
Nicolas seethes with anger. He picks up a vase of flowers on a table and hurls it against a wall.
Back in Dallas....at Ewing Global
Sue Ellen walks in. "Well, how's everything going?"
"Just fine, I guess. Although I have to admit everything's a little overwhelming."
Sue Ellen smiles. "It does take a little time to learn. But you already have a background in business. You'll get the hang of it soon, and Bobby will be back as soon as Southfork is finished."
"I know," Lucas says, standing. "I guess I'm just a little scared. Afraid I'll do something wrong."
"You don't have to worry about that. I'm here, and if you need any help, I'm just in the next office."
"I really appreciate that, Aunt Sue Ellen."
"Anytime," she replies. "I'll let you get back to work." As Sue Ellen is about to leave Bobby's office, John Ross walks up. Sue Ellen is surprised to see her son.
"Mama," he says.
"John Ross, what are you doing here?"
"We need to talk," John Ross replies, looking at Lucas. "Umm, is Uncle Bobby here?"
"No, he's not," replies Lucas. "He's at Southfork, overseeing the construction on the house. I'm sitting in for him here."
John Ross smiles. "Well now, itn't that nice? 'Bout time you get to use that business degree I heard you had. Or, did you ever even finish business college?"
Lucas gives his cousin a look of disgust, but doesn't answer John Ross's question, which was obviously an attempt to get under Lucas's skin.
"John Ross, let's go into my office," says Sue Ellen.
"Alright. I guess I can speak to Uncle Bobby later, or you can tell him what I have to say." John Ross gives Lucas a sly smile, then follows his mother to her office. Lucas simply shakes his head, then returns to Bobby's desk.
John Ross follows Sue Ellen into her office and she closes the door. "It's good to see you," she says. "What brings you here? You said we need to talk."
Sue Ellen sighs. "John Ross, I don't want to talk about Westar."
"Mama, this is important."
Sue Ellen pauses a moment as she looks at her son. Then she takes a seat at her desk. "All right. What is it?"
"You know Jillian Cryder, right?" John Ross asks.
"Not personally, but I do know who she is. Why, what about her?"
John Ross hesitates before answering. "I don't quite know how to say this. I was kinda hopin' to be able to tell you and Uncle Bobby at the same time, but I wanna tell you before you find out some other way."
"John Ross, you're starting to worry me," says Sue Ellen. "Just tell me. What is it?"
"I found out a while back that J.R. fathered another child. A child none of us knew about."
"A.....another child?"
"Yes. There aint no easy way for me to say this, so I'll just come right out and say it. Jillian Cryder is J.R.'s daughter. And my half-sister."
Sue Ellen seems less than shocked by what John Ross has told her. She simply looks down, then toward the window.
"You don't seem surprised," John Ross says.
"I'm not. With the number of mistresses and affairs your father had over the years, I'm actually surprised more of his illegitimate offspring haven't shown up by now."
"You're not angry? I mean, Jillian was conceived while you were still technically married to Daddy."
"John Ross, I dealt with your father's infidelity for years. After we were divorced the last time, I came to accept it. Somehow, I knew this day would come. The day I would eventually be faced with a living, breathig reminder of how unfaithful he was to me during both of our marriages. Does it bother me....yes? A little. Am I going to rant and rave and hate this girl because she's J.R.'s daughter.....no." Sue Ellen pauses a moment and looks at John Ross. "Does she know?"
"Yes, she does. I told her. And she didn't take it too well. Especially in light of the fact that I took Westar from her."
"I'd be angry, too. In fact, I AM angry with you. John Ross, you set your plan into motion to gain control of Westar because Bobby and I took control of Ewing Global. And you did the same thing to that girl that you were so angry at Bobby and me for doing to you."
"And you used the same methods to get it that J.R. would have," Sue Ellen says. "And that makes me very sad."
"You do what you have to do in order to get what you want in this life, Mama. All those years of livin' with my Daddy shoulda taught you that. And it's not like you've been a saint all your life. I recall some pretty low down things you've done to get your way, too. So I guess I got a double dose of lyin', cheatin' and ruthlessness from both sides." Without another word, John Ross turns and leaves.
After he's gone, Sue Ellen starts to cry, her son's words stinging. At this moment, she craves a drink.
Back in Mexico....later....
Christopher nods. "I'm sure. Only thing I'm worried about right now is Elena."
One of the other agents, the same one who had been with Christopher earlier, looks at his watch. "Blanton should be getting in touch with her right about now."
"If any harm comes to Elena...." Christopher says.
"Trevino won't harm her," says George. "He knows she's carrying his child."
Christopher sighs with worry.
Meanwhile....Elena's apartment
"I'm really not hungry," replies Elena.
"You must eat something. You must keep up your strength for yourself and for that little one."
"I know, Mama. I don't care. Whatever you feel like."
Carmen smiles. As she starts into the kitchen, the doorbell rings. "I will get it," she says. She walks to the door and opens it. A man carrying a fairly large package is there. "Yes?" Carmen asks.
"Elena Ramos?" The delivery man asks.
Elena stands and walks over to the door. "I'm Elena Ramos."
"I have a package here for you," the young man says.
"I didn't order anything."
"Please, Miss Ramos, let me in," the man says, discreetly showing her a CIA badge and identification.
Elena looks at the badge and her heart sinks. "Come in," she says. The young man walks into the apartment and Elena closes the door. "What's going on?"
The man gestures for Elena and Carmen to be quiet. The two women exchanged worried looks as the man takes something from his apartment and looks as if he is scanning the apartment looking for something. Carmen starts to say something, but Elena hushes her mother before she can. When he has gone into every room of the apartment, returns to the living room.
"Who are you and what's this all about?" Elena asks.
"Miss Ramos, I'm very sorry for the precautions, but, as you saw from my identification, my name is Eric Blanton and I'm a special agent with the CIA. I work under George Tatangelo."
"George.....the agent who was in charge of the cartel operation?"
"Yes. Mr. Tatangelo sent me here. Miss Ramos, I have some news for you that's going to shock you. That's why we had to get to you under cover. And why I had to sweep your apartment to make sure it wasn't bugged. Miss Ramos.....Christopher Ewing is alive."
Elena's and Carmen's mouths drop open in shock. "No. That's not possible. I saw that car explode. Christopher was...."
"He wasn't in the car, Miss Ramos," Blanton interrupts. "We had men inside the Cartel, and we knew what Trevino was planning. So, we had to stage Christopher's death. He's been in hiding under our protection ever since."
"Oh my God," Elena says, taking a seat. "Where is he?"
"He's here, in Mexico City. And so is Trevino. He's had men watching you, and we've had you under constant surveillance as well, to make sure you were safe. And now, we need your help to draw Trevino into the open so we can catch him once and for all."
"No!" Carmen says adamantly. "I will not allow my daughter to do anything that will put her or her baby in danger. She is pregnant."
"Yes, Mrs. Ramos, I know. But this could be our only chance. If Trevino escapes again, you will never be safe. And neither will Christopher or any of the Ewings. According to our intelligence, Trevino plans to go after the rest of that family. We'll have men ready to come in as soon as Trevino makes his move."
"Ellie, no, I cannot permit this!" Carmen again protests.
"Mama, I have to do this. I won't go through the rest of my life looking over my shoulder, wondering if Nicolas is going to show up. I won't raise my baby like that." She again looks up at Blanton. "Now, what do you want me to do?"
"Yes, Boss." the man replies.
Southfork....
"Sue Ellen," he says with a slight smile. "Hi."
"Hello, Bobby. How's it coming?"
"Just fine. Another week or so and we'll be able to move back in."
Sue Ellen smiles. "That's wonderful."
"Wanna come in for a cup of coffee?"
"No, thank you, Bobby. I need to talk to you."
"Sounds serious," Bobby says. "Is everything okay at the office with Lucas?"
"Oh, no it's not that. Lucas is doing a fine job. It's something else."
"Let's walk," Bobby says. He and Sue Ellen walk over to the pool. "What is it, Sue Ellen? Is it about Ewing Global?"
"No, it's a little more personal. It's about the family. J.R., in particular."
"What about J.R.?"
Sue Ellen sighs. "Bobby, John Ross came by the office today, and he gave me some news that, in a way, shocked me, and yet, in another way, it was news that I expected a long time ago."
"Bobby, do you remember Kimberly Cryder?" Sue Ellen asks.
"Sure. She was married to Wilson Cryder."
"That's right. And you're aware that her daughter was CEO at Westar until John Ross pulled his little takeover of the company."
"Yes."
"It turns out that Kimberly's daughter Jillian Cryder......is J.R.'s daughter."
"What?" Bobby asks.
"John Ross said he discovered this a while back. And he had Bum track the girl. I asked Bum about it myself after John Ross told me. He confirmed it."
"Good Lord," says Bobby. "Well, how do you feel about that?"
Sue Ellen looks at him a moment before answering. "Bobby, I came to terms with J.R,'s many infidelities a long time ago. As I told John Ross, I'm just surprised one of J.R.'s illegitimate offspring hasn't been discovered before now."
"I wonder if J.R. knew."
"You knew your brother as well as I did. No, Bobby, I really don't think J.R. had any idea about this girl. Or he would've tried to find her years ago."
"Does she know?" Bobby asks.
"Yes. John Ross told her."
"Sue Ellen, I'm sorry. I know this was the last thing you needed to hear right now while you're trying to put your life back together and stay sober."
Bobby puts his hand on Sue Ellen's shoulder and gently rubs it in an attempt to comfort her.
Mexico....evening....
A few minutes later, Christopher stands waiting in a secluded parking lot when Elena's car drives up. Elena comes to a stop when she sees Christopher. Tears come to her eyes. Slowly, she gets out of the car and looks at him. Christopher also stands watching her for a moment. Finally, the two start toward each other. When Elena reaches him, she jumps into his arms, crying happily.
"Oh my God," she cries. "Christopher! I can't believe it. You're really alive! You're here!"
"I'm alive, Elena. I"m okay," he says as he embraces her tightly. Christopher puts her down and looks into her eyes, now wet with tears.
"Tell me this isn't a dream," she says.
"It's no dream. I'm here, and I'm real. I'm so sorry you had to go through this."
"It doesn't matter now. I thought I had lost you."
As Christopher and Elena talk, they are being watched from a distance by two Hispanic men sitting in the burgandy car. Not far from them, the black car carrying two CIA agents sits across the street, watching. Patiently waiting for Nicolas's men to make their move.
Back at the parking lot across the street, Christopher and Elena continue talking. "All I've thought about since this whole thing started, was you, and getting back to you."
"I've thought about you every day," Elena tells him. "Blaming myself for what happened to you."
"Christopher, how can you say that? If I hadn't brought Nicolas into out lives, none of that mess would've happened, and my brother would still be alive."
"I'm not gonna let you go on blaming yourself. There was no way you could know Nicolas was mixed up with the Mendez-Ochoa Cartel."
Elena looks at him. "Do you really think he's gonna try something now that he knows you're alive?"
"I do. In fact, we're being watched right now," Christopher replies, indicating with his eyes in a direction over Elena's shoulder, to where the white car sits. She starts to turn around but he stops her. "No, don't look," he whispers. "Just act like you don't even realize they're there."
"I'm scared," Elena whispers.
"So am I. But just act natural. The CIA assured me that nothing would go wrong. As soon as Nicolas's men attempt anything, they're gonna move in. That's why they wanted us to meet here, in the open."
Meanwhile, Nicolas's men in the white car decide it's time to make their move. As the driver turns the key to start the car, there is an earth shattering explosion that rocks the night as their car is blown apart in a fireball!!
The blast creates enough of a diversion to leave Christopher and Elena vulnerable. While the agents are distracted by the burning car, a dark van speeds across the parking lot toward Christopher and Elena. As they start to run, the van manages to cut them off and comes to a screeching stop. Four men jump out. One pulls a gun and opens fire on the agents as they draw their guns. One man grabs Elena while the other two grab Christopher and force them both into the van. Both struggle, and Elena screams. Another black CIA car turns into the parking lot, but too late as the van speeds away with Christopher and Elena! The car begins to give chase, but one of the kidnappers opens fire on the car, hitting a tire, which causes the car to lose control and overturn on the street, crashing into another car. The van speeds away into the night carrying its two hapless victims!
Later....
"What is it, Boss?" One of the agents asks.
"Trevino's men somehow were onto us," George replies, his voice shaky. "They got away with Ewing and Elena Ramos. And we lost two of our men."
Meanwhile....a warehouse somewhere
"I have done nothing with Elena," Nicolas replies calmly. "She is perfectly safe, and will come to no harm. Unless it becomes absolutely necessary."
"If you hurt her, I swear to God, I'll...."
"You will what, Christopher? You will do......nothing." Nicolas leans down to his captive, his face only inches from Christopher's. "I am afraid, my friend, that you are in no position to do anything."
"Wanna bet, Trevino?" Christopher asks.
Nicolas laughs. "You Ewings are a very stubborn bunch. You should have stayed dead, Christopher. Because very soon, you are going to die for real. But not before you witness Elena leaving with me."
"You're not taking her anywhere!"
"Again, you are in no position to dictate anything." Christopher suddenly spits in Nicolas's face. An enraged Nicolas slaps Christopher as hard as he can across the face, stunning him. "You will regret doing that," Nicolas says, wiping his face with a handkerchief. "You will have a few hours to sit here and think about death, and to wonder how you will die. But I can promise you, Christopher.....it will be very bad. And very painful." Without another word, Nicolas turns and walks out of the room, followed by the two men who came with him.
"NICOLAS!" Christopher yells after him. "I SWEAR, YOU'RE NOT GONNA GET AWAY WITH THIS! YOU WON'T I PROMISE I'LL KILL YOU IF IT'S THE LAST THING I EVER DO!!!" Nicolas pays no attention to Christopher's threats and keeps walking. One of the men guarding Christopher places another piece of duct tape across his mouth.
The next morning....
"Was there any news?" Carmen asks.
"No, Mrs. Ramos. They haven't been found. Not yet."
"Then why are you sitting around doing nothing? "Why are you not out there looking for them?"
"Mrs. Ramos, I assure you, we're doing everything possible to find them," George says.
Another agent comes to the door. "Boss," he says.
"Excuse me, Mrs. Ramos," George says. He follows the other agent out of the room.
"Boss, Mrs. Trevino is here," the agent says.
George walks into yet another room, where Nicolas's estranged wife, Lucia Trevino, is waiting. He walks over to her. "Mrs. Trevino, thank you for coming."
"I do not understand what is happening," Lucia says. "I have not seen or been in touch with my husband in weeks."
"I realize that, ma'am. Please, take a seat." Lucia sits down and George takes a seat across the table from her. "Mrs. Trevino," he continues. "Your husband has resurfaced. And he's kidnapped Elena Ramos and Christopher Ewing. We were hoping that maybe you could help us in some way. Perhaps you know of any places in Mexico City where your husband may use as a hideout."
"Nicolas very rarely confided in me about such things. We have been separated for some time."
"No," Lucia replies. "I am afraid I cannot help you. The only place I know that my husband spent a lot of time was our lake house. And, since he was captured there last time, I do not think he would return there."
"You're right, he wouldn't. We've already checked the lake house and we have men stationed around there in case Nicolas were to show up by chance. So, you can't think of anything? Any relatives?"
"No. My husband had no family."
"Well, thank you, Mrs. Trevino, for your time. And please, if you happen to think of ANYTHING that might help us find Nicolas, give us a call." George hands Lucia a card with his number.
"I will," she says, standing. "And I hope you find Nicolas. Soon. Before he harms anyone else." Lucia starts to leave, then stops in the doorway. She hesitates a moment.
"Mrs. Trevino, are you all right?" George asks, noticing the young woman's hesitation.
"Please, tell us. Anything we can use to go on would be of help."
"There was an old warehouse, down in the poorer section of the city, where my husband use to use to store goods and products......drugs. The warehouse was a front for the cartel's operation that Nicolas was involved with. He mentioned it a couple of times."
"That's good," says George. "Do you remember the address?"
"No. But I can get it for you. With a phone call."
"Please do, Mrs. Trevino. As soon as possible."
"Yes," Lucia says. "Excuse me for a moment." She steps out of the room.
George looks at two other agents and smiles, hoping Nicolas's wife would provide the break they need to find him and his two captives.
Once in the hall, Lucia takes her cell phone from her purse and dials a number. After a few rings, someone answers. "Herve, necesito la direccion del almacen, por favor," she says in her native Spanish. "Ahora misma."
Meanwhile...
The man shows Christopher through the window that he is carrying a gun. "Stand back," he says.
Christopher does as he's told and stands back. The man unlocks the door and opens it, then walks in with a tray in one hand, the gun pointed a Christopher in the other hand. "Your breakfast."
"I'm not hungry."
The man smiles. "You had better eat up, Mr. Ewing," he says in a thick Spanish accent. "This will be your last meal on earth." The man puts the tray on the floor as he laughs.
"Where am I? Is this still the warehouse where I was last night?" Christopher asks.
"That is none of your concern. You had better eat. It is no good for a man to die on empty stomach." Christopher starts for the man, but is stopped by the gun pointing in his face. The man laughs. "Do not try anything, Senor. I would not want to deprive Nicolas the pleasure of seeing you take your last breath." The man laughs, then leaves the room, locking the door behind him.
Later....
"Boss?" Blanton says.
"Listen up, everyone," George says loudly. The other agents stop what they are doing and turn their attention on their boss. "Looks like we hit pay dirt with that address Trevino's wife gave us. Trevino has used that old warehouse numerous times in the past. Agents Reid and Bracken have the place under surveillance."
"Any word yet from Martinez?" One of the agents asks.
Dallas....
"Hi, Tripp," she says.
"Hello, Jill. I was just about to give up and leave."
"What are you doing here?"
"I just came by to see how you're doing after what happened the other day. And I was hopin' we could talk."
"Sure," Jillian says. "Come in." She takes out her key and unlocks her door.
Tripp follows her into the apartment. He looks around the living room and smiles. "So how are you?"
"Fine. Still angry as hell, but......"
"But nothing, Jill," Tripp says. "John Ross stole your company. I'd be mad as hell and ready to kill him. Literally."
"Believe me, the thought has crossed my mind," says Jill.
"Jill, I'd like to help."
"Help? How?"
"I'm not sure. But I think I have a pretty good idea how John Ross managed to get those Westar shares. By blackmailing their original owners into handing them over to him."
Jillian sighs. "Tripp, don't you think THAT thought has crossed my mind, too? That's the only way I can figure John Ross pulled it off."
"Looks to me like you've just resigned yourself to losing Westar to John Ross Ewing."
"Tripp I've had other stuff going on."
"Other stuff? More important than getting your company back? Jill, John Ross stole Westar and tossed you out on your ass, and you just seem like you don't care."
"Tripp, just stop it," Jillian says, losing her patience. "John Ross did more to me than just take Westar."
"What?" Tripp asks. He walks over to her. "Jill, did he.....did he hurt you?"
"Not in the way you're thinking."
"Then in what way, Jill?"
She remains silent for a moment, then looks at him. "John Ross dropped a little bombshell on me the other night."
"And what was that?"
"What? How....."
"J.R. Ewing was my father."
"No, no. John Ross is lying. He's just trying to confuse you."
"It's true," Jillian says. "My mother confirmed it. She and J.R. Ewing had an affair, and he promised to marry her so he could get control of Westar from Wilson Cryder, the man I thought was my father."
"Oh.....oh wow," Tripp says in shock. "This totally blows me away."
"Yeah, well how do you think I feel?"
"That just makes what he did worse, Jill," Tripp says, walking over and taking a seat beside her. "Not only did he steal the company, he stole it from his own sister. Jill, you have to fight back."
"How, Tripp? How can I fight back, and why should I?" Jillian stands and walks to the window. "I don't even care about Westar anymore."
"Jill, you can't mean that."
"Yes, I do mean it, Tripp. If you care so much about Westar, then you and your grandfather fight John Ross and get it back. I just don't care. My whole damned life has been a lie. Somehow, I have to find a way to deal with the fact that my mother lied to me for twenty-six years, that the man I thought was my father isn't, and a man that I never met and will never get a chance to meet was my real father. The last thing on my mind is Westar."
Tripp looks at the young woman for a moment. Then, as Jillian starts to cry, he stands and walks over to her. He puts his arms around her and embraces her. "Shhh, it's okay," he says, gently stroking her silky blonde hair. "Everything's gonna be okay. I'm here, Jill. If you need to talk about it and get this off your chest, I'm a great listener."
"No," Jillian says. "I don't wanna talk about it. Just hold me, Tripp. Please just hold me."
"Yeah, it's okay. I got you," he says, comforting her as she cries, her face buried in his chest. After a moment, she looks up at him. The two stare deeply into each others' eyes for a moment, then Tripp kisses her. He quickly pulls out of the kiss.
"Tripp.....don't stop," Jillian says. Tripp again kisses her passionately....
Back in Mexico City....
"Where's Christopher? What has Nicolas done with him?" Elena asks.
The man simply smiles. "Come with me, Miss Ramos. And do not resist."
A terrified Elena Elena looks at the man, then at his gun. Realizing she has no choice, she stands and follows the man from the room.
Meanwhile, Nicolas is waiting in an office elsewhere at the warehouse. He walks to a small bar and pours himself a drink. He takes a sip just as the man brings Elena in. Nicolas hears them enter the room and smiles. "Elena," he says, his back still to them. "How nice of you to join me." He turns around and looks at her. "Even a little dirty, you are still the most beautiful woman I have ever known."
"Nicolas, what have you done with Christopher?" Elena asks.
Elena looks at him and just nods.
"Oh, that's right. I forgot. The baby. OUR baby. Our son. Or perhaps daughter. In this case, I would not mind a daughter, as I already have two wonderful sons to carry on my name."
"Nicolas, just let us go."
He walks over to her. "You haven't even asked about my health, Elena," he says calmly. "I am fine. I recovered from the gunshot wounds nicely. And I forgive you for shooting me. I understand. You were angry when you learned the circumstances of Drew's death. But that was necessary. Just as the death of Christopher Ewing is necessary. And then no one can ever come between us again."
"No," Elena says, looking at him, shaking her head. "I swear if you've hurt him...."
"Elena, one day perhaps you will understand that sometimes things are necessary. Whether we want to do them, we must. Once Christopher has been eliminated, you and I can go away and begin our lives together and await the birth of our child."
"You really have lost your mind. I would never go anywhere with you. And if you hurt Christopher, I'll kill you."
The smile disappears from Nicolas's face. "Elena, you had might as well get use to the fact that you belong to me. Not to him. In time, you will come to accept our new life. I will make you very happy. I have known since we were children that we were destined to be together."
"You son of a bitch," Elena says. "You can go straight to hell. I will NEVER be with you. I will NEVER stop hating you for all the damage you've done to me and to the people I love. Christopher is the only man I will ever love."
Nicolas looks angrily at her for a moment, mustering all of his will to control his temper. He grabs Elena's face violently. "Mateo," he calls to his henchman in the hallways. Within a second, the heavy-set Mateo walks in. "Mateo, I believe that Miss Ramos needs to see our other guest, Mr. Ewing. Please speak with Julio and arrange to have Mr. Ewing.......prepared......for Miss Ramos to see him."
Without saying a word, Mateo nods to his boss, then leaves the room. Nicolas lets go of Elena's face and she looks at him, pure hate in her eyes.
Meanwhile.....outside...
Back inside....
Elena moves her gaze from Nicolas to the small window. Slowly she moves closer and looks through the window, where she sees Christopher inside the room with Mateo and another man. "Christopher!" She gasps.
they hurt you?"
"I'm fine, Christopher,"
she says, crying.
"Elena, I love you! I love you!"
Hearing Christopher's
declaration of love
brings more tears to
Elena's eyes as she
puts her hand up to
the glass. Christopher
does the same, their hands on top of one another, separated by the glass. This declaration of love between Christopher and Elena fuels Nicolas's rage.
"Enough of this," Nicolas angrily says. He moves Elena aside and motions to Mateo inside the room with Christopher.
"Hold it, Trevino!" The agent yells.
Within a flash, Nicolas forces Elena in front of him and pulls a revolver. "Do NOT come any closer," he says, holding the gun to Elena's head.
"It's over, Trevino," says another man from behind him. Nicolas turns around and sees another agent holding a gun on him from the other direction. "You have nowhere to run. We have the place surrounded and there's no escape. Let the girl go."
"You will have to kill me to take me," Nicolas says. "But first, I will kill HER!" Without warning, Nicolas lowers his gun on the first agent, firing a single shot, hitting the man in the throat. The other agent fires a shot at Nicolas, but misses as Nicolas drags a screaming Elena down another corridor and fires two shots at the second agent.
Inside the room where they have beaten Christopher to a bloody mess, Mateo and the other man hear the shots and run into the hall, their weapons drawn. But before they can react, the second agent opens fire, hitting both men in the chest and killing them instantly, their bodies falling in the hallway outside the open door of the room where Christopher lays. The second agent takes off down the other corridor after Nicolas and Elena, while more agents arrive. One goes into the room and finds Christopher. He goes over to him.
"I'm....I'm okay....where's Elena?" Christopher asks weakly.
"Everything's okay, just lie still."
"No, I have to get to her."
"Mr. Ewing, you're injured, Just lie quietly, we're gonna get you out of here." At that moment, more gunfire is heard down the hall. The agent quickly reacts by standing to his feet, He goes to the door and opens it slightly, his weapon drawn. Laying on the floor only a few feet away, Christopher watches as the young agent steps into the hall, and he hears him fire a shot. Just then, another shot is fired, and the agent falls to the floor. Christopher, weak and in severe pain from his beating, manages to crawl to the door. He opens it, but sees no one but three bodies in the hallway. He checks the agent who had checked on him. He's still alive, but gravely wounded. Christopher grabs the door and pulls himself to his feet. He reaches down and picks up the agent's gun. Then he limps down the hall. He sees no one, and nothing but a dead end straight ahead. He makes his way down another corridor off the main hallway in the same direction where Nicolas had taken Elena moments earlier. He sees someone coming. He wonders if it could be an agent, or one of Nicolas's men. He dips into an open doorway. It turns out to be one of Nicolas's men. As the man passes by the doorway, Christopher hits him over the head from behind with the gun. He takes the man's gun, which is a small handgun, makes sure the safety is on,then slips the gun into his pocket and creeps quietly down the hall until he reaches a storage room, the door closed. As he passes by another closed room, the door slowly opens. Nicolas steps out of the room holding Elena, his gun to her head.
"Ewing," Nicolas says to Christopher, who has his back to Nicolas. "Turn around slowly."
"Christopher, no..." Elena starts to say, but Nicolas stops her.
Christopher raises his hands, the gun still in his right hand. He slowly turns to face Nicolas.
"Drop the gun," Nicolas orders. "Drop it, or she's dead."
Christopher drops his gun to the floor and looks at Nicolas. "You'd never hurt Elena," Christopher says. "Not while she's carrying your baby."
"Don't tempt me. I have nothing left to lose. And you and Elena will be my ticket out of here. Or rather, Elena will. You will be dead. Move. Into that room."
Christopher slowly backs into the room Nicolas ordered him into. Nicolas slowly moves into the room, too, still holding tightly to Elena. "Let her go, Nicolas. Just let her go."
"You would like that, wouldn't you?" Nicolas asks. "I let Elena go, and you two can be together. Raise my child? No. I will NOT make it that easy for either of you."
"TREVINO!?" Comes a voice from the hallways outside of the room where the three are. "It's no use. Give yourself up." It's the voice of George Tatangelo. "We have you surrounded. Your men are all dead or in custody. There's no way you can escape."
"Stay back, or I swear, I will kill them both!" Nicolas yells back.
"Joaquin, please," Elena begs. "Don't do this. Just let us both go. You can still get away. If you don't, they'll kill you."
"Better listen to her, Nicolas," Christopher says. "There's no where else for you to run. This is the end of the road, Nicolas."
"Then so be it. All three of us will enter the gates of hell together." Nicolas, obviously becoming deranged by now, starts laughing. "Do you know what Drew's last words to me were before he was killed?" He asks Elena. "He said, 'for what I have done, I am going to hell. I'll save you a seat.' I hope he also has saved a seat for the two of you."
Enraged at hearing Nicolas speak of her brother's last moments before he killed him, Elena manages to kick Nicolas in the shin, allowing enough of a distraction for her to break free of his grasp. As Nicolas fires the gun, Christopher manages to duck behind some old furniture in the storage room, and the shot hits the wall. Elena scrambles behind the furniture and reaches Christopher. Nicolas fires another shot at them.
"TREVINO!" George yells from outside. "This is your last warning."
Christopher slips his hand into his pocket and pulls the gun he took. While Nicolas is looking in another direction, Christopher steps out and pulls the gun on him.
Nicolas slowly turns around. Seeing Christopher holding the gun on him, he smiles. "Are you going to gun me down in cold blood, Christopher?"
"After everything you've done to me, and to Elena, to my family......"
"You do not have the guts to commit murder," Nicolas says.
"Drop the gun," orders Christopher, as Elena steps out.
"Christopher," she says. "We have to turn him in."
"Why? So he can spend a few years in prison and then be a free man again?"
"Christopher, you are no killer," Elena says.
"TREVINO?" George calls again from outside. "One last warning. Send Ewing and Miss Ramos out, then give yourself up. No more bloodshed. Miss Ramos is pregnant, with your baby."
Nicolas looks at Christopher. "Go ahead," he says. "Pull that trigger. If you have the guts."
"SHUT UP!" Christopher orders.
"Christopher, please," begs Elena.
"He will not do it, Elena," Nicolas says. "He does not have the guts."
"I told you to shut up," says Christopher. "I should kill you after everything you've done to the both of us. To my family. They think I'm dead because of you! You son of a bitch..."
"Christopher, he isn't worth it. If you pull that trigger, then you're no better than he is. And no better than I was when I tried to kill."
"This piece of filth murdered your brother, Elena."
"I know," she says. "And he will pay."
While Elena is talking to Christopher, Nicolas, who is still holding the gun in his hand, suddenly makes his move. He lowers his hand and aims at Christopher....
