Southfork.....morning
The Ewings - Bobby, Ann, John Ross, Christopher, and Emma are gathered at the breakfast table at Southfork when Elena walks into the dining room.
"Morning, everyone," she says.
"Mornin'. Elena," Bobby says.
"Good mornin'," says Ann. "Would you like some breakfast?"
"I'd love some, thank you."
"Here, you can take my seat," John Ross says as he stands. "I gotta get to the office. Got a big day ahead of me."
"Who're you gonna backstab today?" Christopher asks.
John Ross looks at his cousin and smiles. "Have I told you, how good it is havin' you back to insult me on a daily basis, Christopher? I'll see y'all tonight."
"Have a good day, John Ross," Bobby says.
"Thanks, Uncle Bobby. I intend to." John Ross smiles, grabs his brief case, then leaves.
Elena takes a seat at his place at the table. "Everything looks so good."
"Elena, how's your mother?" Ann asks.
"She's fine. I just talked to her yesterday."
"Is she ever comin' back?" Bobby asks. "We miss her around here. Despite everything that happened."
"I know," Elena says. "But, it's hard for Mama. Too many painful memories of Drew, the fire. She's happy staying with her sister in Mexico City."
"Well, I suppose with so many people livin' here at Southfork again, we should hire ourselves a new maid," Ann says. "But Elena, please let your mother know that if she EVER wants her job back, or even a place to stay, she's more than welcome here."
"I will, Ann. Thanks," Elena says with a smile.
"I suppose I should be gettin' to the office myself," says Bobby, standing as he takes a last sip of his coffee.
"Dad, can I talk to you outside?" Christopher asks.
"Sure, son." Bobby walks over and kisses Ann.
"Have a good day," she says.
"I will. See ya tonight." Bobby smiles at her then walks out with Christopher following.
"I guess I better get going, too," says Emma.
"Where you off too so early?" Ann asks.
"I have an appointment at nine with a dressmaker in Dallas. She's making me a new dress for the barbecue next week."
"Simple thing would've just been to go buy a dress," says Ann.
"Not like I want. Why don't you come with me?"
Ann smiles. "I'd like that. But first I do need to clear these dishes."
"Ann, why don't you and Emma go on," Elena suggests. "I'd be glad to stay and clear the table for you."
"Oh, honey, I can't ask you to do that."
"You're not asking, I'm volunteering," Elena says. "Besides, I'm sure Christopher will help when he comes back in."
"Alright. Thank you." Ann and Emma both stand from their seats and leave the room. After they're gone, Elena looks at some of the dishes on the table, and realizes the opportunity she has. The fork, spoon, and glass John Ross used are sitting on the table right in front of her. Now is her chance to get a sample of his DNA for the paternity test. She quickly grabs the spoon and fork and places them in her purse.
"Morning, everyone," she says.

Meanwhile....
Bobby and Christopher are talking outside at Bobby's car. "Son, what is it you wanted to talk to me about?" Bobby asks.
"Dad, I've been doin' a lot of thinking about lunch with Matt last week. When Cliff came by the table. He made a crack about what you've done to him, and what Ann's done to him. I'd like to know what he meant by that."
Bobby sighs. "Christopher, it's not somethin' I can talk about right now."
"Dad, come on. I know somethin's goin' on. Now we've always been able to trust each other enough to tell each other anything. I confided in you the other morning about me and Elena. Can't you trust me enough to confide in me?"
"Son I don't have time right now," Bobby says. "It's a long story. And a complicated one. Later, we'll talk about it. I have to get goin' now."
Christopher nods, but says nothing. Bobby gets into his car and Christopher watches as his father drives away.

Austin, Texas
Matt Culver walks into his apartment in Austin. Hearing the door close, Margaret walks into the living room.
"Hey," she says. "Matt, I've been worried sick. You said you were gonna call me last. Why didn't you answer when I called or texted?"
"Hey," she says. "Matt, I've been worried sick. You said you were gonna call me last. Why didn't you answer when I called or texted?"
"I was busy," Matt replies. "Had a lot on my mind."
"Like what?"
Matt walks over to the sofa and puts his suitcase down.
"Matt, what is it?" Margaret asks, walking over to him.
"How long have we known each other?" Matt asks.
"That's a crazy question. I"ve known you my whole life. What's wrong with you? Does the way you're acting have anything to do with your meeting with John Ross yesterday?"
"Margaret, we made a promise to each other. A promise to never lie to each other. And to tell each other everything. Hell, since we've known each other our whole lives, I didn't think there was anything about you I didn't know."
"What are you talking about?"
"Why didn't you tell me about your arrest? Remember that? When you were in college?"
"Like what?"
Matt walks over to the sofa and puts his suitcase down.
"Matt, what is it?" Margaret asks, walking over to him.

"That's a crazy question. I"ve known you my whole life. What's wrong with you? Does the way you're acting have anything to do with your meeting with John Ross yesterday?"

"What are you talking about?"
"Why didn't you tell me about your arrest? Remember that? When you were in college?"
Margaret's heart sinks. "Did John Ross tell you that?"
"The point is, why didn't YOU tell me that?"
"Matt, I just couldn't. It was a long time ago. Seven years ago, when I was a sophomore. I was going through a really rough time after my stepfather died."
"So you started doing drug?" Matt asks.
"Not exactly. I tried a couple of times. This guy I was seeing at the time, his best friend's girlfriend offered me some at a party one night. I did some coke a couple times after that. And one day, my friend Mandy and I were caught. They booked us, and I spent one night in jail. But I was never convicted."
"Did your mother pay you out of that?"
Margaret looks at him, tears in her eyes. "She pulled some strings. She didn't want my future ruined because of one stupid mistake, and because I was the stepdaughter of Senator Andrew Dowling and the daughter of Donna Dowling, they dropped the charges. Matt, I swear, I never touched any drugs ever again after that. I never even smoked weed."
"Why didn't you ever tell me this before?"
"I was ashamed. I thought if you knew......" Margaret stops talking and fights back tears. "Matt, I remember when I was about twelve I guess. You were almost nineteen then. I developed this huge crush on you. It was so weird because I'd known you all my life. My mother was once married to your grandfather, so we were like family. When I was a little girl you were kinda like the big brother I never had. But when I was twelve, my crush on you started. Then you went away to college in Austin, and I didn't see you for a few years. Not until your dad got sick and you came back to Washington. I was seventeen by then and when I saw you that first time since I was like thirteen, it wasn't a crush anymore. I'd fallen in love with you. But, you didn't notice me. At least not in that way. To you, I was still that girl you watched grow up, who you thought of as a kid sister. It took a long time for me to get you to notice me as a woman, instead of as that little girl. Then when Andrew, a man I loved like a father, died so suddenly, it devastated me. So I made a mistake. To answer your question, I didn't tell you because it took me years to get you to fall in love with me, and I didn't wanna lose you."
"Why would you think you would lose me?" Matt says, walking over and taking her by the hand. "Did you think so little of my love for you, that you didn't trust me to handle this?"
"It's not that I didn't trust your love for me. Oh, God, Matt, you are so perfect. I mean, you turned out to be exactly what your parents wanted you to be. You went to law school, and then politics. I really disappointed my mom by what I did. And my real dad. The last thing I wanted was to disappoint the only man I ever loved. I just never thought anyone would ever find out about this."
"The point is, why didn't YOU tell me that?"

"Well, your cousin found out," Matt says. "And he really enjoyed telling me all about."
"How did he find out?"
"Hired a private detective, I guess."
"Matt, what did he want?" Margaret asks.
"If I don't do him a couple 'favors' when he needs them, he'll ummm....expose this secret."
"Will that hurt you?"
"Don't worry about me," Matt replies. "It's you I'm worried about. Margaret, this could embarrass us all if John Ross makes your arrest public. Not only me, but you, and your mom. Especially since Donna had it swept under the rug. And she's on that anti-drug task force. It could look kinda bad. And we can't deny it, even though you were never convicted, because the arrest record is still public. If John Ross found it, someone else could, too."
Margaret stands and walks across the room, fuming with anger. Then she turns to Matt. "Damn John Ross."
"Don't worry," Matt says as he stands and walks over to her. "We'll figure something out. I will not compromise my principals to be John Ross's political puppet in Austin, and I won't have the woman I love embarrassed."
"What do we do?" Margaret asks.
"Maybe Bobby can help. He's your uncle, and he seems to be a match for John Ross. Bobby invited us to the Ewing Barbecue at Southfork next week. I'll try and stall John Ross until then. And at the barbecue I'll talk to Bobby and Sue Ellen. She's John Ross's mother, maybe she can exert some control over her son."
Margaret puts her arm around Matt and they embrace.

Back in Dallas....
Elena is waiting in an examining room for her doctor, Miriam Griffith, when Dr. Griffith comes in. "Well, Elena, all set for your test?" She asks.
"Yes, all set. And I did manage to get something with a DNA sample from the man who could be the child's father."
"Good. I don't mind telling you that I'm not comfortable doing this without this man's consent. But, it's not illegal. However, as I told you the other day, it's not admissible in court, either."
"Don't worry," says Elena. "That won't be an issue. I just wanna know who the baby's father is, for my own peace of mind."
Dr. Griffith smiles. "I understand. Let's get started."

Downtown Dallas...
Ann and Emma come out of a dress shop in downtown Dallas later, both carrying an armful of packages. "I can't believe you talked me into buyin' all this stuff," Ann says.
"What harm can it do?" Asks Emma. "You needed some new things, both for yourself and the house. Besides, what good's having a lot of money if you're not gonna spend it on what you want?"
"You do have a point there," Ann says with a smile.
At that moment, they almost literally run into Cliff. They stop suddenly before bumping into him coming out of a cafe. "Well, this is a surprise," he says. "Hello, Ann. Hello, Emma."
"Hello," Emma says.
"Come on, Emma, let's go," Ann says in an attempt to hurry her daughter away.
"What's your hurry? I just said hello to the girl. Emma, how're you feeling since your surgery?"
"Fine. Almost 100% back to normal," she replies.
"Oh, that's wonderful news."
"Emma, come on," Ann says again.
"Bye," Emma says as she and Ann walk past Cliff and down the street. Cliff watches as the women walk away from him and toward Ann's car parked in a parking lot nearby. Emma glances over her shoulder at Cliff watching them, then quickly turns her head back forward. They open the back of Ann's SUV and put their packages away. "What was that all about?" Emma asks.
"Nothin', Come on, get in."
The women get into the SUV and fasten their seat belts. "How did he get out of prison? I thought he was in there for life."
"People with money and connections can always find a way," Ann replies. "Emma, I want you to stay away from Cliff Barnes. If you see him on the street, or anywhere, I don't want you to speak to him, or even look at him."
"Is he that dangerous? He can't be. If he was they never would've let him out of prison."
"Sweety there are an awful lot of people walkin' around free who belong in prison. Cliff Barnes is one of them." Ann starts the SUV, and they drive away.
"What harm can it do?" Asks Emma. "You needed some new things, both for yourself and the house. Besides, what good's having a lot of money if you're not gonna spend it on what you want?"

Southfork....one week later...
Autumn has arrived full force at Southfork, as a cool breeze is blowing over the ranch and the leaves begin to change colors and fall to the ground. Behind the house, workers are preparing the property for the annual Ewing Barbecue which will be the next day.
Inside the sitting room, Ann and Sue Ellen are sitting around a little table making final preparations for the barbecue.
"Now, I think we have everything on my checklist taken care of," Sue Ellen says. "Here, you look at it and see."
Ann takes the list and looks at it. "Oh, yes, that looks good. Here, take a look at mine." She hands Sue Ellen another 'to do' list.
"Looks good."

Ann takes the list and looks at it. "Oh, yes, that looks good. Here, take a look at mine." She hands Sue Ellen another 'to do' list.

"Sue Ellen, I can't thank you enough for all the help you've given me the past couple weeks on this," Ann says. "The plannin', the invitations, the decorations, the menu. I don't know what I woulda done without you."
Sue Ellen smiles. "Ann, it's been entirely my pleasure. It's helped me a lot, too, working on the barbecue with you. Between this and my work at Ewing Global, it's taken my mind off a lot of things. And staying so busy has also helped me to not want a drink. Truth is, I'll be sorry when the barbecue is over."
"Well, we'll just have to find somethin' else to keep you busy," Ann says as Bobby walks into the house through the sliding glass doors from the patio.
"How are you ladies doin'?" Bobby asks.
"Just fine," replies Ann. "How's it comin' out there?"
"Bandstand is almost finished, and we have the bar set up. The skies are clear and the weather forecast for tomorrow looks great. So this year's barbecue is gonna be the best one in years."
"Well, it's gonna be the biggest, that's for sure."

"That's the idea," Bobby says. At that moment the front doorbell rings. "Hmm, wonder who that can be," he says. "I'll get it." Bobby makes his way through the door leading into the foyer. He opens the front door to a surprise - his brother Gary and Gary's wife, Valene. "Oh my gosh, I don't believe it!" Bobby says happily.
"Hello, Bobby," Gary says.
"Gary, Val, come on in," Bobby says happily as he ushers his brother and sister-in-law into the house and greets Gary with a handshake. "How are you?"
"We're just fine," Val replies.
"Val, you look great," Bobby says, kissing her on the cheek.
"Well, so do you."
Gary looks around. "Bobby, I love what you've done with Southfork."
"So do I, it's beautiful," Val agrees.
"Thanks. I figured it was time for a fresh start. Well come on in, guys. Annie and Sue Ellen are in the sitting room. I know they'll be glad to see you, and then I'll give you both a tour of the newly improved Southfork."

Elena's cottage....
While Christopher is in the shower, Elena is sitting on the sofa in her small living room drinking a cup of hot chocolate and reading a magazine, but she finds it hard to concentrate. She puts the magazine down in frustration and stands. The only noise in the house is the sound of the shower running in the bathroom until her cell phone vibrates on the coffee table. She picks it up, looks at the caller ID and sees it's Dr. Griffith's office calling just as the shower stops.
She quickly answers. "Hello?" She says, keeping her voice low so Christopher won't hear her conversation since he's out of the shower. "Yes, this is Elena Ramos. You have the results? Yes, I can come in this afternoon. What time? 3:30. Yes, thank you." Elena ends the call and puts her phone down, anxious to find out the results of her baby's paternity. Elena looks at her clock on the wall, which reads 1:25 PM. Her appointment is in two hours and five minutes. Somehow she has to find an excuse to tell Christopher why she's going to town. She takes her cup, walks to the kitchen and puts it in the sink as Christopher comes out of the bathroom, dressed only in boxers. He stops and stares at her as she stands at the kitchen sink. She looks at him and smiles. "What?"
"I was just thinkin' how beautiful you are standing there," he says, walking into the kitchen. He puts his arms around her and kisses her.
"Oh, Christopher, you're still a little wet," she says, pushing him away.
"It's only water. It won't hurt."
"You're sure in a better mood today. Sleep better last night?"
"Nah, I didn't," he replies. "I'm just lookin' forward to the barbecue tomorrow. And seein' some of my family I haven't seen in a while. And the best part is I'll have the most gorgeous woman at the barbecue as my date."
Elena smiles.
"Anymore coffee?" Christopher asks.
"Yeah there's some on the stove."
He walks over to the cupboard, takes out a coffee mug, then goes to the stove and pours himself a cup. "Soon as I get dressed let's g up to the house. See if my dad and Ann and Sue Ellen need any help."
"Ummm, you go ahead," Elena says. "I actually need to go into Dallas for a little while."
"I was just thinkin' how beautiful you are standing there," he says, walking into the kitchen. He puts his arms around her and kisses her.

"You gotta go back into town?" Christopher asks.
"Yeah. Just a few things I need to take care of."
"Oh, well, I can come with you if you want."
"No," she answers very quickly. Christopher is taken aback. "I mean, I just need to take care of something. It's a surprise."
Christopher smiles. "A surprise? For me?
"I can't tell. I said it's a surprise," Elena replies flirtatiously.
"Okay, then, I guess I'll just have to accept that and be patient." He walks over and kisses her. "I'm gonna get dressed and head on up to the house. How long will you be in town?"
"Not long."
"Okay. Hurry back." Christopher kisses her again then heads back into the bathroom. Elena sighs, nervous about the results of the paternity test.

Jillian's apartment....
John Ross stands outside of Jillian's apartment after having rang the doorbell twice. Finally, Jillian opens the door.
"What are you doing here?" She asks, not at all pleased to see him.
"Let me in and I'll tell you."
Jillian stares angrily at him for a moment, then steps aside and motions him in. John Ross walks into the apartment and she closes the door. "So what do you want?"
John Ross smiles. "Now is that any way to greet your big brother?"
"John Ross, I'm very busy today," Jillian says. "Just tell me what you want and then get the hell out."
"What are you doing here?" She asks, not at all pleased to see him.

"John Ross, I'm very busy today," Jillian says. "Just tell me what you want and then get the hell out."
"I was just wonderin' if you got my invitation to the Ewing Barbecue tomorrow."
"I did," Jillian says.
"I'd really like for ya to be there. So would the rest of the fam'ly."
"Thanks, but I'll pass," Jillian says, somewhat rudely.
"Look, I know how you feel about me," John Ross says. "And you have every right to. But don't take your feelin's for me out on the rest of the fam'ly. They'd all like to meet you, get to know you."
"Why? They're not MY family."
"Yes they are, Jill," says John Ross. "You may not wanna admit it, but you've got just as much Ewing blood in you as I have in me. You told me you grew up an only child. No siblings, no cousins. Well now you got some."
Jillian turns her back to him and walks to the window. She remains silent.
"Jill, I know I should've told you the truth before I did. But then, your mama knew who your father was for twenty-six years and didn't tell you. I know that, after gettin' off on such a bad start, you and I will prob'ly never be the closest brother and sister. But I would like us to be friends." Jillian continues to stare out the window, as if not even acknowledging his presence. "Well," he says. "Invitation's open if you wanna come. Barbecue starts at one o'clock. Hope to see ya there." After a brief hesitation, John Ross turns and leaves.
"I did," Jillian says.
"I'd really like for ya to be there. So would the rest of the fam'ly."

After a brief hesitation, John Ross turns and leaves.
As soon as she hears John Ross leave, Jillian turns around, her eyes filled with tears. John Ross's words echo through her mind. A family, she thinks to herself. Siblings. Cousins, Aunts and uncles. Something she never had before.
Margot Perot Center....
Elena paces anxiously in the waiting room at Dr. Griffith's office that afternoon as she awaits the results of the DNA test that will determine if John Ross is the father of her child. If the result is negative, then Nicolas is the father. Either way, she feels, her child is screwed. Three other pregnant women are also in the waiting room. They are calmly seated, thumbing through magazines or watching the television mounted on the wall, but Elena is far too nervous to do either. Finally, the nurse comes to the door. "Elena Ramos," she calls. Elena quickly walks through the door and follows the nurse down the hall to another room, where a second nurse is waiting. |
"MIss Ramos," the nurse says. "Thank you for coming in this afternoon, I'm sure you're anxious for your results."
"Yes, I am. Thank you for calling me. You have the results?"
"I do," the nurse replies. She hands Elena a sealed envelope. Elena quickly opens it and takes out a piece of paper with the DNA results. She reads over it as the nurse looks on.
"There couldn't be a mistake?" She asks.
"No. The DNA is a perfect match."
Elena sighs, then fights back tears. She looks down at the paper once more. "John Ross," she whispers. "John Ross is the father." She starts to cry, her emotions getting the better of her. As horrible a person as Nicolas was, he's dead and out of her life forever. But John Ross is very much alive, and if he finds out this baby is his, she knows she will ALWAYS have to deal with him.

Pamela's apartment....
Pamela comes down the stairs of her apartment to answer her ringing doorbell. She opens the door and finds John Ross leaning against the door frame smiling at her.
"Oh my God," she says. "This was a pretty decent day until now. What the hell do you want?"
"I don't know what it is, but nobody seems too happy to see me today," he says, walking in.
"Gee, I couldn't imagine why," Pamela says sarcastically as she closes the door. "What do you want?"
John Ross looks around. "Ya know, I always did think this was a real pretty apartment. Really suits you."
"I don't have time for your games, John Ross. What do you want?"
"As you know, tomorrow is our annual Ewing Barbecue, and as my wife, I expect you to be there."
Pamela laughs. "As your wife? I haven't been your wife in the true sense of the word in quite a long while. Our marriage, if you can even call it that, is in name only, and soon, it won't even be in name only."
"You must've forgot what I said a while back about any divorce would get ugly. Especially for you. And now that certain facts have come to light, it would be even more ugly and embarrassin', given the fact that you took an overdose of pills, went to a hotel, and engaged in a kinky threesome with your husband and his mistress, who just happens to be your half-sister."

"John Ross, your lame threats are beginning to bore me."
"Never the less, you really wanna bring all those facts out in open court?"
"John Ross, why are you so hellbent on holding on to this marriage when you know that it's over and I can't stand the sight of you."
John Ross smiles. "You'd really love for me to give in and give you that divorce, wouldn't you? Then you'd be free to ride off into the sunset with your current stud, Tripp McKay."
"That really bothers you, doesn't it? Tripp and I?"
"Pamela, I told you a long time ago that I don't give a damn who you're screwin'. But you are still my wife, and I expect you to be at the barbecue tomorrow, smilin' and greetin' our guests like the dutiful Ewing."
Pamela smiles mischievously. "I'll be there."
"Good. Barbecue starts at one o'clock, so be there by noon." He walks to the door and starts to leave.
"John Ross," Pamela calls. He stops and turns back to her. "For the record, Tripp is much, much better in bed than you could ever dream of being."
"Enjoy your stud while he's still around, darlin'," John Ross says. "Guy like Tripp McKay's got itchy feet. Never know when he's gonna up and.....disappear on you." He winks at her, then leaves.
After John Ross leaves, Pamela is fuming with anger. She picks up her cell phone from the coffee table and dials a number.

Meanwhile....
Tripp is walking out of the Omni when his cell phone rings. Taking the phone out of his pocket, he smiles when he sees it's Pamela calling.
"Well, hello," he says.
"Hello, Tripp," Pamela says.
"I'm glad you called. I was gonna give you a call later. Haven't heard from you since that day we met at Reunion Tower."
"I know. I'm sorry about some of the things I said that day."
"No problem," Tripp says. "I'd like to see you."
"Actually, that's why I'm calling. I was wondering if you had anything planned for tomorrow."
"As a matter of fact, I already have plans for tomorrow."
"Oh, umm, well, okay. Sorry, it was just a thought."
"I'm sorry. We'll get together later."
"Sure. Later," says a disappointed Pamela as she hangs up.
"Hello, Tripp," Pamela says.

Southfork.....the next day
By the middle of the afternoon the next day, Saturday, hundreds of people were on Southfork enjoying good food, good drink, good county and western music from a live local band, and good dancing. It was a beautiful day, and so far, everyone seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves at the annual Ewing Barbecue which was the biggest one in more than twenty years.
While Ann and Sue Ellen play joint hostesses at the event, Bobby makes rounds, greeting some of his guests with a handshake. He spots Ray and Jenna walking toward the house. With a smile, he walks over and meets them.
"Hello, Ray, Jenna," he says.

"Hello, Ray, Jenna," he says.
"Hey, Bob," Ray says, greeting his brother with a handshake. "How's everything goin'?"
"Goin' great, Ray. It's good to see you both."
"Bobby, where's Lucas?" Jenna asks. "We've been looking for him but can't seem to find him anywhere."
"Oh, he's around someplace," Bobby replies. "He's prob'ly somewhere with Emma."
A worried look comes across Jenna's face at the mention of Emma. "Is Lucas seeing a lot of Ann's daughter?" She asks.
"Well, as a matter of fact, Lucas and Emma have been getting pretty close," Bobby says as he looks over Jenna's shoulder and sees Lucas and Emma walking toward them.
"Hey, guys," Lucas says.
"Hello, sweetheart," Jenna says, greeting her son with a hug and kiss on the cheek.
"Lucas, how are ya, son?" Ray asks, shaking the young man's hand.
"I'm fine. Umm, you guys remember Emma, right?"
"Of course," Ray says. "Good to see you again."
"Thank you, Mr. Krebbs. It's good to see you and Mrs. Krebbs again, too."
"Would you all excuse me?" Asks Bobby. "I see a couple people I wanna say hello to. I'll see y'all later."
"Sure thing, Bob," Ray says as Bobby walks away. He looks at Lucas. "Well, what's this I hear about you goin' to work at Ewing Global?"
Lucas smiles. "It's true. When Bobby was needing to spend most of his time here at Southfork during the renovations, he put me to work at the office."
"And he's been doing a great job," says Emma.
Lucas laughs. "Ah, she's just a little prejudiced," he says, putting his arm around Emma while Jenna looks on, displeased.
Meanwhile, a frustrated John Ross has been pacing around looking for Pamela. He finally sees her arriving with Afton, more than an hour after he had told her to be there. He walks over to meet the two women.
"Hello, Afton," he says. "Pamela, my darlin' wife. Can I have a word with you?"
"Anything you have to say to my daughter, you can say it in front of me," Afton bellows.
John Ross looks at Pamela. "You're late. I thought you were gonna be here before one, it's nearly two."
Pamela smiles. "Is it? I lost track of time."
"Well, now that you're here, MRS. EWING, why don't let's you and I dance. Show these folks our marriage is still intact?"
"But our marriage is far from intact," Pamela says. "And I have absolutely no desire to dance with you. Excuse us." Smiling with satisfaction, Pamela and Afton walks past John Ross, leaving him furious.
His mood is elated for only a split second when he sees Jillian arrive, but his mood again turns to anger when he sees who she's with - Tripp McKay. Jillian and Tripp walk over to him.
"Hello, John Ross," says Jillian.
"I'm glad you came," he says. "However, I don't remember you bein' invited, McKay."
"Tripp is here as my date," Jillian says.

"That's right, John Ross," Tripp says. "Wouldn't do for the lady to come to this shindig all by herself, now would it?"
John Ross looks at him, trying to contain his anger, and smiles. "I suppose not," he says. "Jillian, if you can tear yourself away from your ummm.....date....I'd like to introduce you to some of the rest of the family."
"Maybe later, John Ross," she says. "Right now, I'd like to dance."
Tripp looks at John Ross and smiles. "You heard the lady," he says. Without another word, he and Jillian walks away from John Ross and head off to dance to a little country music.

Meanwhile, Sue Ellen is walking around mingling with guests when she spots Gary standing alone. She pauses for a moment, then walks over to him. "Gary," she says.
"Hi, Sue Ellen," Gary says with a smile. "How are you?"
"Just fine. I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to talk yesterday after you arrived."
"So am I. I wanted to ask how everything's going with.....well, with....."
"With my drinking," she interrupts.
"Yes."
"Well, I won't lie, Gary. It's been hard, Some days are harder than others, but as long as I stay busy, it helps. And with the support of family like Bobby and Ann, I think I can do it."
"I KNOW you can do it," says Gary, "And I meant what I said before I left last year. If you ever need to talk, or just need a friend, I'm still only a phone call away."
"Thank you, Gary," she says. "That really does mean an awful lot. And, how are things with you?"
"Well, after Val and I went back to Knots Landing, things were a little rough for a while. But, in time, we managed to put our marriage back together, and today we're happier than ever."
"I'm very happy to hear that," Sue Ellen says. "Speaking of Valene, where is she?"
"She's over there with Lucy," Gary replies, pointing toward his wife and daughter. "They had a lot of catching up to do, so I made myself scare for a while to let them spend some time together."
Across the crowd, Gary's wife Valene and their daughter Lucy are standing near a fence, talking, Lucy chattering away about her life and career as a fashion designer. However, Val has her eye on Gary and Sue Ellen, and isn't paying attention to Lucy at all.

"Mama? Mama?" Lucy calls to Val.
"I'm sorry, darlin', what?"
Lucy sighs. "You haven't heard a word I've said, have you. You've been watching Daddy and Sue Ellen like a hawk. What exactly happened between those two, anyway?"
Val looks at her daughter. "Lucy, I'd really rather not talk about it."
Lucy looks from her mother across the crowd to her father and Sue Ellen, who are still talking. She gasps. "Oh my God! Did Daddy and Sue Ellen have an affair when he was staying at Southfork last year?"
Val remains silent, her expression one of hurt.
"They did, didn't they?" Lucy asks.
"I....I don't know," Val replies after a moment. "I always suspected so, but Gary refuses to say one way or the other. He just says I should trust him. It's not him I don't trust. It's HER."

Elsewhere at the barbecue, Christopher is walking around looking for Elena, whom he hasn't seen in a while. He spots Ann through the crowd and makes his way over to her, but not without having to stop and greet several people along the way who want to say how happy they are he's alive and back home. He politely thanks each of them, and finally reaches his stepmother.
"Hey, Ann, have you seen Elena anywhere?" He asks.
"No, I haven't not since you were dancin' with her earlier," Ann replies.
"Yeah, that's the last time I saw her, too. Maybe she went in the house. Thanks," he says. He continues on looking for her.
Meanwhile, as Jillian dances happily with Tripp, Pamela watches them, her anger and resentment growing by the minute. Afton walks over to her daughter and hands her a drink. "What's the matter?" Afton asks. Pamela says nothing, and Afton looks over and sees that she's staring at Tripp McKay and a young woman dancing (Jillian). "That's the young man we met at the Omni several weeks ago isn't it? Ummm...McKay?"
"Yes," Pamela says. "Tripp McKay."
"What's bothering you, Pamela?"
"I invited him here today, to be my date. He said he had plans."
"It seems he did. Who's the blonde he's dancing with?" Afton asks.
"Her name is Jillian Cryder. Or Ewing. Or whatever name she goes by now."
"Ewing? That girl is a Ewing?"
"Yes, Mom," says Pamela. "She's one of J.R.'s....indiscretions."

"Really, isn't that interesting? I'll bet Sue Ellen just loooves having her here," Afton says, enjoying this piece of news.
At the same time, John Ross is also watching Tripp and Jillian dancing. He finally walks over to them. "Excuse me, mind if I cut in?" He asks.
"As a matter of fact I do," Tripp says.
"Too bad, I need to borrow my little sister for a while."
"Tripp, it's okay," says Jillian. "I'll find you later."
"OKay, if you're sure."
Jillian kisses him, then walks away with John Ross. Taking her cue, Pamela walks over to him.
"So, these were the important plans you had, huh?" She asks.
"Pamela, I'm sorry," Tripp says. "But when you called and invited me to this, Jill had already asked me."
"So you just didn't bother to tell me that?"
"I didn't wanna hurt you," Tripp says. "Look, dance with me and we'll talk."
"I don't wanna dance, especially not with you," Pamela says. She starts to walk away, but Tripp grabs her by the arm.
"Pamela, wait. Don't walk away from me like this. Look, if I'd known you were gonna ask me I never would've accepted Jill's invitation."
Meanwhile, John Ross takes Jillian over to where Bobby and Ann are chatting with some friends. "This a private party or can anyone join?" John Ross asks.
"Hi, John Ross," says Bobby.
"Uncle Bobby, can I have a word?"
"Sure. John Ross. Mike, would you excuse us?" Bobby asks the man he and Ann were chatting with. The man and a woman walk away.
"Uncle Bobby, Ann," John Ross says. "I'd like you both to meet Jillian Cryder. My....sister."
Bobby smiles at the young woman. "Well, Jillian, hello. I'm Bobby Ewing. This is my wife, Ann."
"Nice to meet you."
"Jillian, it's a pleasure to meet you," Ann says, shaking her hand.
"Bobby is our daddy's baby brother," John Ross says. While Bobby and Ann chat with Jillian and start to get to know her, John Ross looks across the crowd and sees Pamela with Tripp. His jealousy is immediately aroused.
Elsewhere, with Lucy present, Ray and Jenna are chatting with and getting acquainted with Gary and Val, as the brothers' wives have only met once before, at Miss Ellie's funeral thirteen years earlier. The women laugh as Ray and Gary share a story of one of their camping and fishing trips with Jock, J.R., and Bobby when they were boys. Soon, Ray looks around and is happy when he sees his daughter, Margaret, arrive with Dave Culver's son Matt. Then Ray sees a third person with them - none other than Margaret's mother, his former wife, Donna Dowling.
"Would y'all excuse me?" Ray asks. Leaving his wife with the others, Ray walks over and meets Donna, Margaret, and Matt. "Margaret," he says.
"HI, Daddy," the young woman says, greeting her father with a hug.
"I had no idea you were gonna be here."
"Well Bobby invited Matt. So of course I'm tagging along, and I convinced Mom to come."
"As a matter of fact I do," Tripp says.
"Too bad, I need to borrow my little sister for a while."
"Tripp, it's okay," says Jillian. "I'll find you later."

"Donna," he says. "Been a long time."
"Yes it has, Ray. Too long," Donna says with a smile and a touch of sentimentality in her voice. "You're looking very well."
"So are you. Beautiful as ever."
"Thank you. How's Jenna?"
"Oh, she's just fine. Lucas is here too."
"Yes, Matt told me," Margaret says. "Where is he? I wanna see my brother."
Ray laughs. "Well, good luck findin' him, sweetheart. He's prob'ly off with his girl."
"Lucas has a girlfriend?" Margaret asks.
"Yeah, he's uh, he's been seein' a lot of Bobby's stepdaughter, Emma."

Meanwhile....inside the house, in Emma's bedroom
Lucas lays on his back on Emma's bed, his feet hanging off on the floor, as she stands over him.
She slowly removes her clothes until she is left wearing only a black bra and a black pair of panties.
She gets on top of him, her long, flowing hair falling onto the bed beside him, and they look into each others' eyes for a moment. Then, Emma leans down and kisses Lucas passionately.
After a moment, Lucas pulls out of the kiss and looks at her. "Are you sure you're ready for this? Because if you're not, I'm willin' to wait for as long as you need to be completely sure you're ready."
Emma looks down at him and smiles. "It's taken me a long time," she says. "But, I'm ready. I'm ready because, for the first time, I'm with a man who I love and who truly loves me."
Lucas smiles at her. "I love you so much," he says. Emma kisses him again, then Lucas rolls on top of her.

Back outside at the barbecue....
Christopher is dancing with Elena, who he finally located. But he notices that she hasn't been in a party mood all day. "Hey, what's wrong?" He asks her.
"Nothing, I'm fine."
"Elena, you're not fine. Come on, I know you. I can tell when somethin's botherin' you, and you've been acting strange all day."
"I'm just tired," she says. "Haven't slept well in days."
"I thought the doctor gave you somethin' to help you sleep."
She sighs. "It's not helping. Christopher, if you don't mind, I think I'm gonna head home, at least for a while."
"I'll come with you," Christopher says.
"You don't have to, You know what? I'm just gonna go lie down for a while. You stay and have a good time. Iest for an hour or so, and then come back."
"You sure? Elena, I'm worried about you. You keep tellin' me you're fine, but I know you're not. Is somethin' wrong with the baby?"
"No, Christopher. Dr. Griffith says the baby's just fine. And so am I. My blood pressure's just up a little."
"Nothing, I'm fine."

"I will. I'll be back in a little while."
"Okay." Christopher kisses Elena, then he watches as she walks away.

"Okay." Christopher kisses Elena, then he watches as she walks away.
Meanwhile, John Ross downs first one Miller Lite and then another as he continues to watch Pamela dancing with Tripp McKay. His anger continues to rise up inside of him. Then he is distracted when he sees Christopher walking toward Ann and Bobby, who are still talking to Jillian, and Elena walking toward her house. In his semi-drunken state, John Ross wants to talk to her. He finishes off his current beer, then walks over and grabs another one from the bar, opens it, and starts walking toward Elena's cottage.
A few minutes later....
Elena walks into her cottage and takes a seat on the sofa. She rubs her head lightly, then gets up, walks to a desk and opens a drawer. Rummaging through the contents of the drawer, she takes out the envelope she had gotten at Dr. Griffith's office the day before - the envelope containing the paternity test results. She walks back over and takes a seat on the sofa again. Taking the results out of the envelope, she looks at the paper.
She looks at the piece of paper in her hand, and John Ross's name, confirming the fact that he's the father of her baby. Elena wonders how she will ever tell Christopher this piece of news. Or maybe she should just let everyone go on believing NIcolas was the father. Nicolas is dead, so he would never bother her. She'd never have to worry about him coming back and wanting to be a part of the child's life, or take the child away from her. But John Ross is alive, is here, and would be a threat to her and her child.
As she looks at the paper, Elena is unaware that John Ross is outside, watching her through the window. He wonders what she holding in her hand. He notices that Elena seems upset by whatever she's reading on that piece of paper.

As he continues to watch her through the window, his chance finally comes when Elena gets up, walks back to the desk and puts the paper back in. Then she goes into the bathroom and closes the door. Realizes he had to act now or never, John Ross tries the door. Luckily for him, the door is unlocked. He quietly opens the door and slips inside. He stops and listens for Elena. Then, ever so quietly he creeps to the desk and opens it. The envelope Elena had in her hand is under a copy of her electric bill. He picks up the envelope. Realizing he can't take the time to read it here, John Ross slips it into his pocket, and quietly leaves Elena's cottage. A moment later, she comes out of the bathroom.
Outside, and out of sight, John Ross opens the envelope and takes out the piece of paper. He sees that it's the result of a paternity test. As he begins to read, his mouth drops open when he sees his name.

He smiles. "Well I'll be damned," he says. "I'm gonna be a daddy."
Back at the barbecue....
Matt, Margaret, and Donna are mingling with other guests when Bobby and Ann walk over to them. "I don't believe it," Bobby says, smiling at his former sister-in-law. "Donna."
"Bobby," she says with a smile. She and Bobby embrace tightly.
"Oh, Donna it's so great to see you. Why didn't you let us know you were comin'?"
"It was a last minute decision of sorts, Bobby. My daughter insisted I come."
Bobby turns around and looks at the young woman at Matt's side. "Oh my.....is this? This can't be Margaret."
"It is," Donna says.
"Well, Margaret you sure grew up to be a beautiful young woman."
Margaret smiles. "Thank you."
"Matt, are these two beautiful ladies here with you?" Bobby asks.
"Bobby," she says with a smile. She and Bobby embrace tightly.

"Yes, Bobby, they are," Matt replies with a smile. "Margaret's my girlfriend."
"She is? Well, why didn't you tell me you were datin' this pretty little niece of mine?"
"It just never came up."
"Bobby, aren't you gonna introduce us?" Asks Ann.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Donna, everyone, I'd you to meet my wife, Ann. Honey, this is Donna Dowling, Ray's former wife and my favorite former sister-in-law."
Ann smiles as she shakes Donna's hand. "Donna, it's so wonderful to meet you. I've heard so much about you I feel like I already know you."
"Ann, it's a pleasure to meet the woman who finally won the heart and tamed this wild buck," Donna jokes.
"And honey, this is Donna and Ray's daughter Margaret, remember I showed you her picture?" Bobby says. "And Senator Matt Culver."
"Nice to meet you all. I'm happy you could all be here today."
"Thank you, Ann, I hope we can get to know each other," says Donna. "Bobby, one of the reasons I came is because we need to talk to you."
"Oh? Sounds kinda serious, is somethin' wrong?"
"Actually yes, Bobby," Matt replies. "It's about John Ross. Can we go somewhere and talk privately?"
"Sure, let's go in the house."
Meanwhile, Lucas and Emma come out of the house through the patio doors. They are hand in hand, and all smiles. To even the casual observer who may have missed them from the barbecue, it isn't hard to figure out where they've been and what they'd been doing. Jenna watches her son and his new girlfriend from near the pool. The look on her face shows her displeasure over the budding relationship between Lucas and Bobby's stepdaughter. Standing nearby, Lucy has met her newly discovered cousin Jillian, and the two are getting acquainted.
John Ross, in the meantime, has made his way back to the barbecue from Elena's cottage. He watches as Christopher walks up to the bar and gets a beer. John Ross goes over to the bar and orders a glass of bourbon.
"Don't you think you've had enough for today?" Christopher asks.
"The hell's that supposed to mean?" John Ross asks.
"I've been watchin' you, cousin. You've been hitting the booze pretty hard today."
John Ross smiles as the bartender hands him his drink. "Well, cousin, before, it was because I was upset at the sight of my slut of a wife makin' a fool out of herself with Tripp McKay. But now it's because I've got somethin' to celebrate."
"Yeah, and what's that?" Christopher asks, taking a sip of his beer.
"She is? Well, why didn't you tell me you were datin' this pretty little niece of mine?"

"I just got the good news that I am gonna be a father," John Ross says.
"Oh, really? Is Pamela...."
"Oh, hell no."
Christopher looks at his cousin with distaste. "So, finally knocked up another one of your mistresses, huh? I guess you really are trying to follow in your father's footsteps."
John Ross looks at his cousin and smiles. "The mother in question is NOT my mistress. In fact, she's got a boyfriend."
"John Ross, are you talking about Emma?" Christopher asks.
"Nope, wrong again, Christopher. The mother on question is none other than Elena Ramos."
Christopher's mouth drops open in shock. "What? What the hell are you talking about, John Ross? You're either lyin' or so drunk you don't know what you're saying."
"Why don't you ask her yourself? Or better yet, read 'em and weep?" John Ross says, taking the paternity test result from his pocket and handing it to his cousin. "Now, how Elena came to get a sample of my DNA for that test......I don't think I wanna know.....but the results are there in black and white. I'm a perfect match, which means that baby she's carryin', is mine."
Christopher, by now, is seething with anger. "You son of a bitch!" He says. Finding it impossible to control himself, he punches John Ross in the mouth, knocking his cousin to the ground. John Ross falls against the bar and knocks three bottles of liquor to the ground, smashing it. The little scene draws the attention and stares from everyone in the immediate vicinity, including Pamela and Tripp, who laughs at the sight of John Ross being knocked on his ass. Before John Ross is able to stand to his feet, Christopher takes off in the direction of Elena's cottage.

Meanwhile, in the living room, Matt, Margaret, and Donna have filled Bobby in on Margaret's college indiscretion, and John Ross's attempt to use it to blackmail Matt. As Donna, Margaret, and Matt sit on the two sofas, Bobby stands at the fireplace, in front of Jock's portrait. "Matt, I wanna thank you for bringin' this to my attention," Bobby says.
"Well, Bobby, I certainly have no intention of letting him get away with this. And I won't be his or anyone else's political puppet."
"Of course not."
"Well, it sounds like the apple didn't fall very far from J.R.'s tree," Donna says.
"No, unfortunately, it didn't,"
"Bobby, do you think there's anything you can do to stop John Ross from blackmailing Matt, and from using this information to embarrass my daughter?"
Bobby sighs. "I don't know, Donna. But I'm sure gonna try."
In the meantime, outside, As Jill walks over to John Ross and brings him a napkin to use on his bloody lip Christopher had just given him, Tripp and Pamela walk over.
"Haha," Tripp laughs. "It was worth comin' out here to your family's home just to see you get knocked on your ass by your own cousin."
"You shut the hell up, McKay, and get off this ranch."
"You think you're a big man, don't you, John Ross?" Pamela asks. "Christopher could always better you in a fight, and every other man I've been with has bested you in the bedroom. I wouldn't say you're a big man at all."
"You shut up!" Jillian says.
"Just who do you think you're talking to?" Pamela asks.
"I think I'm talking to a piece of trash," Jillian answers.
"Why, YOU BITCH!" Pamela says, slapping Jillian hard across the face. By now, everyone around the group has stopped what they're doing to watch the show.
In retaliation, Jillian picks up a half full glass of bourbon sitting on the bar and tosses it in Pamela's face.
Pamela starts for Jillian, but John Ross steps between them.
"What's going on here?" Afton demands to know.
"Afton, take this daughter of yours and her new manwhore and get the hell off this ranch!" John Ross orders.
"You're a fine one to talk about someone being a manwhore!" Pamela shouts.
At that moment, Sue Ellen walks over to the drama."Afton, you and Pamela need to leave," Sue Ellen declares. "NOW!"
"Well, Bobby, I certainly have no intention of letting him get away with this. And I won't be his or anyone else's political puppet."

"Listen to her," says Afton. "She doesn't even live here anymore and she's ordering people off the property."
"No, but I do live here," Ann says, walking over as Emma and Lucas stand nearby. "And I want you all to leave."
Afton smiles. "Well, the gang's all here, it seems. Like one big, unhappy family.
"Mom, we should just go," Pamela says.
"You're daughter's right," says John Ross. "Y'all need to leave."
"Not until the air is cleared and I tell you pompous Ewings what I really think of you!"
"No one is interested in ANYTHING you have to say, Afton!" Sue Ellen says. "You've overstayed your welcome!" Sue Ellen grabs Afton by the arm.
"Let go of me, you bitch!" Afton yells, pulling her arm out of Sue Ellen's grasp.
"Afton, I'm warnin' you," says Ann. "Now you can either leave here on your own, or you can be carried out."
"Another Miss High and Mighty," Afton says as Bobby, Matt, Donna, and Margaret come out of the house. Seeing the commotion at the bar, they head over.
"What's goin' on here?" Bobby asks.
"Oh, I was just setting the record straight, Bobby," Afton says. "On these perfect ladies of Southfork. One was a drunk and couldn't keep her husband happy enough in bed so he strayed time and time again, and here is living proof," she says, looking at Jillian. "And your wife. The PERFECT Ann Ewing. I guess that's one thing the three of us do have in common, is Cliff."
"Afton, shut up," Bobby says angrily.
"Mom, let's go," Pamela says, grabbing her mother by the arm.
"You all degraded Cliff for the things he's done, but what about ALL OF YOU!?"
"Somebody get that woman out of here!" Sue Ellen yells.
"No, I'm not leaving until I've set the record straight," Afton says. "Bobby Ewing. Always the saint compared to older brother J.R. But together they conspired to frame Cliff for J.R.'s murder and have him sent to prison. Then when Bobby needed Cliff he asked Pamela to use a pardon Bobby obtained to get him out in order to save Ann's daughter."
Ann steps toward her. "Afton, you say one more word, and I'll....."
"You'll what?" Afton asks. Then she smiles. "Look at us, would you. We both have beautiful daughters. Daughters who share the same father in Cliff Barnes!"

Audible gasps come from the crowd standing around them. Ann looks over at Emma, who appears completely stunned by what Afton just said, as does Lucas..
Meanwhile....Elena's cottage....
At the same time this drama is being played out at the barbecue, another one is taking place at Elena's cottage. An angry Christopher walks in and finds Elena laying on the sofa, her eyes closed. He slams the door, which shocks her awake.
"Christopher," she says, sitting up. "What's wrong? I just dozed off."
"What's wrong?" He repeats her question angrily. "You wanna know what's wrong?"
What is it?" Elena asks. "What's got you so upset?"
He pulls the crumpled piece of paper from his pocket and holds it out in front of him. "THIS is what's wrong, Elena! Why didn't you tell me?"
Elena's heart sinks as she stands and looks at his hand with the paper. "What is that?"
"It's a paternity test," Christopher replies. "YOUR paternity test, naming John Ross as the father of your baby!!!"
Elena starts to cry. How can anything ever be the same between her and Christopher now?
